Playing in a left to right wind

Playing in a left to right wind

For right handers this is arguably the most difficult wind to play in. It's so easy just to start the ball a little bit too straight and watch it drift away.

Even well struck shots can easily drift on the wind and miss to the right.  One useful tip that may help you is something I read from all time legend and 5 time Open Champion Tom Watson.  When playing in a left to right wind, he chooses tp simply close the clubface ever so slightly at address.  We are only talking a few degrees, otherwise there is a risk of hooking the ball.

By doing this it will help straighten the shot up and reduce the risk of it drifting off to the right.

Hey, if it's good enough for Tom....
